(New York, NY) :iidrr Gallery is pleased to announce Threads of Connection, a group exhibition in celebration of New York Textile Month, showcasing the innovative responses of young artists to contemporary societal issues. Featuring current students and alumni from the MFA Textile program at Parsons School of Design, this exhibition demonstrates how emerging artists use their craft to engage in meaningful dialogue with the world around them.
Through a diverse variety of textile techniques, including weaving, dyeing, crochet, knitting, felting, and embroidery, as well as innovative biomaterials, artists explore topics that are socially and culturally related to our daily life, such as environmental conservation, cultural heritage, health, and even mysticism. The textures created by stitching and the structures formed from fabric are deeply expressive. Each piece reflects the artists’ dedication to sustainability, often incorporating natural dyes, recycled plastics, and other eco-friendly materials.
