(New Yor, NY) Site is pleased to present Site 004. Winter Solstice, a one-night experience celebrating the eve of the longest night of the year. The alternative presentation opens the night of December 20, featuring works by seven visual artists working with found objects, furniture, kinetics, interventions, and more, alongside two sonic artists engaging with the physicality of noise.
The artists explore the primal, multi-sensory dimensions of presence, examining the power of collective reflection, hibernation, and redefinition ritual. The collection is an invitation to engage in dialogue in search for meaning within the orbital cycles of our practices. Through an interplay of horizontal traces and tactile imprints, the presentation reveals the tangible passage of time, from the fading light to the cyclical pulse of the 23.5° axis during the winter solstice, where time pauses and circles back in moments of stillness.
Site 004. Winter Solstice is rooted in the idea of collective consciousness, where the act of exchange and togetherness binds us. The space allows us to hold time, experiencing shared moments through silence and disruption, looking and listening, resting and reflecting, touching and being present with one another. Each iteration serves as a portal to unearthed memories and forgotten rituals, resurrecting primal images and stories that have slipped through the cracks of time.
We invite you to a space to do whatever you please—whether you look, listen, sleep, drink, journal, wait for the new year, look back at seasons, or just be. Every interaction is a part of a larger, deeper cycle. Here, we celebrate the return of companionship, and the constant motion of chasing and waiting for time to unfurl.
As we hold onto returning time, we come to understand that it is in waiting that we find meaning—an embrace of stillness and presence, woven into the company of others and the shifting patterns of light and dark. Site 004. Winter Solstice is a space to reflect and reconnect with us, a call to remember, as we navigate the turning of our own axis.
