Art Show | Thresholds: Group Exhibition at VillageOneArt

Poster credit: VillageOneArt

(New York, NY) VillageOneArt is pleased to present a survey show of contemporary painters with works by Elise Coker, Alex- andra Collins, Eric Diehl, Claire HarnEnz, Jarvis Hua, Nikki Mehle, Song Watkins Park, and Xinzi Luo on view from August 14th. Presenting a wide range of stylistic approaches to painting in the present moment, figuration and abstraction complement each other in this captivating exhibition of painters working in the contemporary vanguard. Artists on view have shown at various venues including the prestigious SPRING/BREAK Art Show. Visitors to the exhibit are treated to a compelling look at portraiture, pattern and mass media in these intimate and detailed paintings. From the lush and vivid subjects proffered by Song Watkins Park to the powerful, mes- merizing tableau from Eric Diehl’s “Exploding Car” series, scenes on view offer entry points into parallel words that feel strangely surreal, even cinematic.

Nikki Mehle’s beguiling compositions stagger figuration with pattern and potency: birds dart from dizzying trees and figures warp and weave into and out of the landscape. Elise Coker’s photorealist depictions of vessels and aircraft reflect on the ways in which advanced technology and machines shape our everyday experience in ways often overlooked. Color and repetition fuel the fantasy apparent in paintings by Alexandra Collins and Claire HarnEnz, while Jarvis Hua’s scenes evoke the vivid gesticulations present in visions presented in Flemish Old Master paintings.

Innovating painting as a genre, each artist on view offers a new perspective on the world we live in today and how the lens of everyday experience is heightened one brushstroke at a time. Be sure to view this survey show at VillageOneArt before it closes on September 13, 2025.
