Experience the elegance and depth of Korean tea culture at a special demonstration by participating artist and educator Sei Ryun Chun. For over two decades, Chun has introduced Korean tea traditions to students and communities through programs in public schools and libraries.

In this brief performance, she will offer a glimpse into the rich heritage of Korean tea ceremony (다례darye), a uniquely Korean ritual that combines beauty (멋) and flavor (맛) with mindfulness, etiquette, and cultural appreciation. More than a way to enjoy tea, darye is a traditional practice of cultivating the mind and spirit, fostering respect, and celebrating the art of harmony and balance.

Historically rooted in practices from Korea’s Three Kingdoms period to the refined rituals of the Joseon Dynasty, Korean tea ceremony emphasizes sincerity, hospitality, and aesthetic enjoyment. Unlike the rigid formalism of other tea cultures, Korean darye is known for its graceful simplicity and natural flow.

Following the demonstration, guests are invited to taste green tea made from hand-picked leaves from Hadong, a renowned tea-growing region in Korea.
